Solar Dehydrators:

A solar dehydrator is similar to an electric dehydrator only it uses solar heat from a solar heat source and electricity from a P.V. solar system.

The simplest solar dehydrator is a passive style solar green house with a solar driven fan to draw out the air. This system works well, however the dried product is not as good as an indirect dehydrator.

The next is an indirect solar dehydrator that uses a solar warm air source and a rack filled with trays with a fans blowing air across the trays. This system is a little more expensive but the dried product is high quality.

It is important to slice the vegetables and fruit evenly and thin so the vegetables or fruit dry in one solar day. I like solar dehydrator because they use renewable energy.
